What is online counseling?

Online counseling is similar to using FaceTime or Skype, except we use a HIPAA-Compliant video platform to ensure your confidentiality. It allows you to meet with your counselor on-the-go through audio and video over the internet on your computer, laptop, or phone. Online counseling saves you the time and hassle of dealing with traffic and busy family schedules. We can connect anywhere directly through your laptop, tablet, or phone.

What equipment do I need for online therapy?

To engage in online appointments from your home (or on the go!), you’ll need the following:-Desktop computer, laptop, tablet, OR smartphone with (built-in) webcam and speakers.-Reliable, High Speed internet connection with at least 10mbps bandwidth.

How long will it take?

The length required for therapy depends on many factors. In general, many people find counseling for 6 months to a year to be effective and helpful to resolve their presenting problem.

Do you take my insurance?

No. In order to protect your privacy, I choose not to accept insurance. My practice is private pay. The fee is $135 per 50-minute session.

Do you work with men? Do you do couples or marital therapy?

No, not at this time. I’ve found I do my best work with teen and young adult women. It’s much more helpful for men and for couples seeking therapy to choose someone who specializes in their unique needs.

Can you write a letter for my pet to become an ESA (Emotional Support Animal)?

Great question! I wish I could, however, my ACA (American Counseling Association) ethics board recommends licensed counselors have “specialized training and experience in working with human-animal bond in counseling” in order to complete ESA letters. Unfortunately, the “human-animal bond” is outside the boundaries of my current competence and education.
